Good post but the claim that there has been a "failure to make any progress on preventative health" seems to rest on local public health budgets being cut. What evidence is there that the council was making any process on, say, obesity before they were cut? 1/

James Le Fanu's book Too Many Pills is very good on this.

Anyway, it's a good book (although a bit expensive for 200 pages). Worth reading alongside Edward Chancellor's excellent book on interest rates.

Amazing video from Australia. They could just let people vape and set tobacco duty at a reasonable level. Instead, they have chosen this path.
