Marcello Ghilardi was born in Milan in 1975. Graduated in Padua in Philosophy, he was a pupil of Professor Gian Giorgio Pasqualotto, under whose guidance he deepened the investigation of the relationship between Eastern and Western thought. Since 2015 he has been a Researcher at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Padua, where he also collaborates with the Master of Intercultural Studies. Member of the Orbis Tertius research group of the University of Milan-Bicocca, he deepened his knowledge of the Far Eastern world and culture by studying at Chinese (Beijing, Hong Kong) and Japanese (Kyoto) universities. In addition to the theoretical research, mainly focused on the aesthetic field, he joined the activity of translator and consultant for various publishing houses, for which he also edited collective volumes and texts by Ernest Cassirer, François Jullien, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Nishida Kitarō and François Cheng. He has published essays in miscellaneous volumes and in national and international journals. His most recent books include The void, the forms, the other (Morcelliana, 2014), a reflection on otherness in the context of language and ethical and aesthetic practices; Modern Japanese Aesthetics (Morcelliana, 2016) and Japanese Philosophy (Scholé, 2018).
