The value and importance of intellectual skepticism

We often believe too easily or discount smth as total nonsense too quickly

But truth mostly exists in a temporal quantum superposition of being both right/wrong

A short framework for better thinking.... ๐Ÿค”
Value is largely subjective

It's always in flux, mimetically changing as idea pathogens propagate, die and respawn

Understanding this becomes especially paramount in business and investing

The delta between a good/bad idea is often just timing and mass psychology
When we first encounter an idea we naturally evaluate based off existing frameworks

Our brains, being advanced categorization machines, make a decision rather quickly

We heuristically infer smth is either valuable or not .. but only in a localized context
We miss a lot of the nuance/contextuality that birthed the idea

We become overly myopically focused

But what seems wrong/dumb NOW can be incredibly right in the context of future $$ making

The only constant is continual flux and our terrible predictive abilities
Developing a framework for thinking about ideas can help:

Landscape - are you assuming things won't change?
Timing - are you assuming you can predict the future?
Ability - are you overestimating your ability?
Mimetics - does it contain viral meme potentiality?
The above can help

But humility can help even more

Realizing that none really knows what they are doing or talking about

And what they say/think might be wrong now but very right in the future

We're all sort of in this together, figuring it out one step at a time
