Adam Kinzinger: Once [they] breached, what we thought was an unbreachable line [outside the capital], the only thing standing between [us] and the person intending to commit violence against [us] would just be a couple more capital police officers. And I knew if they could have breached a big line by then, they could breach a few capital officers in a tunnel.

Interviewer: You expected violence. Why did you think you would need your gun on January 6th?
Adam Kinzinger: I did my research and Twitter told me there were a lot of people that wanted to kill me and said they were coming... People were going there because they truly believed the election was stolen. When you convince a significant part of the country that an election was stolen by blood-drinking satanists, it would be insane to think there wouldn't be violence.

Interviewer: Do you think [congress] believes the election was rigged or do you think they have other motives?
Adam Kinzinger: Oh, it's completely other motives. In the last congress before this one, you could count on one hand how many people believed the election was truly stolen, and they were pretty nuts anyway. The rest were just playing the game.
...people who know the election wasn't stolen and didn't have the courage or don't have the desire to tell people the truth is more frightening because it just goes to show how people can be complicit with authoritarian movements when I used to think that was something that certainly couldn't happen."
