At age 21, I drank too much, didn't take care of myself and focused on the wrong things.

At age 44, I'm healthy and I'm confidently building the life I've dreamed about.

The difference? Developing my personal code.

Here are the 7 values that helped me develop mine.

THREAD 🧵
1/ Integrity

I learned early in life to 'do the right thing'.

Combined with 20+ years in the military, integrity has become a part of who I am.

It's about doing what's right, even when no one's watching.
2/ Dependability

Lots of people talk but fail to take action.

Why? Because you can still get those dopamine hits telling people what you were going to do.

I pride myself on following through as being dependable takes you far in life.
3/ Consistency

The hack. The magic pill. The answer most people are looking for, but overlook because it's so simple.

The ability to be consistent with your words and actions is the shortcut you're looking for.

Apply it to any endeavor and you'll make progress.
4/ Responsibility

Life can be hard and it's even harder when you're not responsible.

Big one here as ultimately we are responsible for our thoughts, words and actions.

Accepting that reality and reacting accordingly sets you apart from the masses.
5/ Accountability

Having been in many leadership positions over the years, this one has increased in importance.

Anyone can make decisions, but are you willing to stand by them if they fail?

Hold yourself accountable despite mistakes and failures and continue to iterate.
6/ Confidence

This can be learned, but it involves enduring discomfort and facing your fears.

Start by developing unwavering self-belief and your confidence will increase.

Rinse and repeat until it's your default approach and life's challenges get a little easier.
7/ Intention

Eliminate all ambiguity because sitting on the fence will delay your progress.

Be clear in what you want to accomplish, how you want to do it and eradicate self limiting beliefs.

Acting with intention provides clarity, which helps you accomplish your goals.
