This podcast is the audio counterpart to Mark Galeotti's blog of the same name, a place where "one of the most informed and provocative voices on modern Russia", can talk about Russia historical and (more often) contemporary, discuss new books and research, and sometimes talk to other Russia-watchers. Listening to these podcasts takes me back to my university days and listening to wise old professors sharing encyclopedic knowledge gained over a lifetime.
Excellent and incisive

Mark Galeotti has time and time again proven himself a master of incisive analysis of Russia and its political machinations, especially those in the current climate. Not only that, but his assessments are marked with a reassuring lack of exaggeration and a fair and balanced representation of Russia’s history, culture and peoples. A podcast I regard as a must listen!

Academics are part of the messy moral world whether they like it or not

His written articles are better. I am sorry to say that his podcasts are streams of consciousness. I know he tries hard. I'm not at all sure he succeeds. He sounds awkward on line. Perhaps he could be clearer about his motives. His podcasts sound like someone exploring his own position or view.
Exceptional

Been listening for over a year and this is the best pod about Russia, Putin and the politics of that troubled country. Academic without being hard to follow, Mark G is balanced in his assessments and incredibly well informed, plus he’s a very likeable host.
