This is a wonderful book. I first found it in my physician's office and then bought it from you. Goethe has always been a favorite of mine, since I took a college course in German, taught by a delightful old German professor who loved Goethe. This book has a good section on Goethe. And pictures of ancient libraries that I would like to have in my home. Even if I have to lock the books to the shelves. I browse in this book all the time.

"Memory of the World: The Treasures That Record Our History from 1700 BC to the Present Day", written by UNESCO experts, is a mesmerizing account of 245 entries of documentary heritage assets inscribed on UNESCO's Memory of the World Register from several countries and from every continent. This book depicts the beauty and diversity of these intangible cultural heritage (ICH) assets as reflected in over 250 specially selected photographs. This book is very helpful to world travellers and historians to know about documentary heritage and ICH assets located in the countries they are planning to visit and also in their own country. This book was released in the international conference on The Memory of the World in the Digital age: Digitization and Preservation (26 to 28 September 2012, Vancouver, Canada).

This is a great book as it is or to be used as a reference book. If I want any in depth information on any chapter I use the internet and the libraries are always there.

3.0 out of 5 stars Delivered promptly and on time

The book arrived promptly and on time. It is a list of the many documents listed as important by UNESCO and describes them.

It states the reason for the list is because many documents were destroyed because of a library fire during the Bosnian War and the need to ensure that precious documents are preserved. I have only had a quick look at it so far, but cannot help but think that the listing is only the first step to preserving the artifacts described.
